Virginia Beach Minor Curfew Updated to 10 PM; 37 Juveniles Taken Into Police Custody on Saturday Night
State of Virginia - On the night of Saturday, March 7, 2026, an unplanned juvenile curfew enforcement was conducted by the Virginia Beach Police Department. The operation took place in the Oceanfront Resort area and lasted into the early morning hours of Sunday, March 8. During the enforcement, 37 unaccompanied minors were taken into police custody. Thirty-four of these individuals were released to their parents with official warnings. The remaining three juveniles were arrested and held at the Virginia Beach Juvenile Detention Center on various charges. Two of these detained minors were found to be illegally carrying firearms. Starting on March 19, 2026, the nightly curfew for unaccompanied individuals under the age of 18 will be adjusted by the City of Virginia Beach. The start time of the curfew is being moved one hour earlier, from 11 p.m. to 10 p.m. The restriction will remain in effect until 5 a.m. in all public areas. This adjustment is intended to reduce late-night incidents and maintain a safe environment during the busy spring and summer months. Violations of this updated curfew can result in a Class 4 misdemeanor citation.
