Bay Bridge Two-Way Operations Notice
Inclement weather conditions may disrupt or prevent two-way traffic operations at the Bay Bridge today. During two-way operations, one lane of eastbound traffic is redirected to the westbound span for enhanced traffic flow.
However, these operations are prohibited under the following conditions:
- Bridge wind warnings or restrictions
- Fog or limited visibility
- Precipitation (rain, snow, etc.)
- Certain emergency incidents
Motorists should anticipate significant eastbound delays, particularly during the afternoon rush hour, as these conditions can limit traffic management capabilities.
To minimize congestion and ensure access for emergency responders and local residents, drivers are advised to remain on US 50 on both sides of the Bay Bridge. Avoid diverting onto local roadways whenever possible.
