16-Year-Old Suspect Arrested in Maryland Following Laurel Apartment Shooting

Laurel, DE - The Laurel Police Department has arrested a 16-year-old suspect in connection with a shooting that occurred on April 1, 2026. The incident took place at the 200 building of the Little Creek Apartments.

Through investigative measures and cooperation from witnesses, detectives identified the suspect as a resident of Laurel, Delaware.

An arrest warrant was obtained for the teenager. The charges include attempted manslaughter, first-degree assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.

Additional charges involve possession of a firearm within 10 years of a prior felony conviction, first-degree reckless endangering, and three counts of criminal mischief over $1,000.

On Friday evening, investigators discovered the suspect had fled to Maryland. The Laurel Police Department coordinated with the Cambridge Police Department to locate the individual. The suspect was taken into custody without incident.

During the apprehension, officers found the suspect in possession of a 3D-printed ghost gun.

The weapon was equipped with a high-capacity magazine and modified for fully automatic fire.

It was loaded with ammunition matching what was recovered from the crime scene on April 1.

The suspect is currently being held pending extradition to Delaware. This remains an active investigation, and additional charges may be filed.
