Agriculture Appreciation Week Returns to Maryland's Coast
Worcester County, MD - Worcester County is about to get busy with tractors, peaches, honeybees, and horses. Maryland's Coast Agriculture Appreciation Week runs August 1 through 9, with more than 40 events lined up across the county. It's a celebration of the farmers, watermen, and businesses that keep local agriculture thriving.
The week is hosted by Worcester County Tourism and Economic Development, working alongside area farms and community groups. It's a chance for residents and visitors to get hands-on with local agriculture while supporting the people behind it.
Things kick off August 1 with a full day of events. The 26th annual Blessing of the Combines starts at 11 a.m. with a parade of farm equipment through downtown Snow Hill.
The Berlin Peach Festival runs from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Calvin B. Taylor House Museum, and Baywater Landing in Snow Hill hosts a free open house from 3 to 5 p.m. with oyster tastings, crab races, and kayak tours.
The Great Pocomoke Fair runs August 1-8 with livestock shows and carnival fun, while the White Marlin Open takes over Ocean City August 3-8 with daily weigh-ins and Marlin Fest at the Inlet.
Bluebird Farms in Berlin will sell native plants all week and give shoppers a shot at winning a $180 tree.
Midweek brings a wildlife damage workshop on August 4, a beekeeping experience at BayBees Honey on August 5, and farm tours at Castle Farm and Rusted Star Ranch.
Bennett Orchards opens up peach picking and sunflower cutting on August 6, and Underwood Acres Farm offers a free tour on August 7.
The week wraps up strong. A cattle and calving workshop happens August 7, followed by the Worcester County Fair from August 7-9 at John Walter Smith Park, packed with livestock exhibits, entertainment, and family fun.
