Alabama Man Arrested After Gun Pulled in Rt. 50 Road Rage Incident
Queen Anne's County, MD - A road rage incident on Route 50 in Stevensville, Maryland, turned into a felony arrest on the evening of May 3, 2026. Queen Anne's County Sheriff's deputies responded to the area of westbound Route 50 and Duke Street at approximately 7:47 p.m. after receiving a report that a driver had pointed a firearm at another person on the road.
Deputy Eckhardt was already nearby and quickly located the person who made the report. That person was stopped on the shoulder of the road in standstill traffic. Deputies then noticed that the suspect vehicle was sitting directly behind Deputy Eckhardt's patrol car.
Deputies approached the vehicle and identified the driver as 59-year-old Brian Normand of Mobile, Alabama. He was taken into custody to be detained without incident.
According to the complainant, the trouble started when Normand's vehicle blocked the shoulder of Route 50. Normand appeared to be preventing other drivers from using the shoulder to get ahead to the Duke Street exit. The complainant got out of his vehicle and walked up to Normand's car, telling him to move out of the way.
That is when things took a dangerous turn. Normand allegedly pulled out a firearm and pointed it directly at the victim's face.
The victim gave deputies a detailed description of the gun, including where it had been placed inside the vehicle. When deputies searched the car, they found a loaded firearm that matched the victim's description exactly, right where he said it would be.
A passenger in the vehicle told deputies that Normand had used his finger to imitate a gun and pretended to fire, but denied that a real firearm was ever used.
Normand was placed under arrest and charged with First Degree Assault, Second Degree Assault, Firearm Used in a Felony Violent Crime, Loaded Handgun in Vehicle, Handgun in Vehicle, Loaded Handgun on Person, and Handgun on Person. He was later held without bond.
