Ambulance Crashes at Sussex Hwy While Transporting Patient

Seaford, DE - On August 15, 2026, at approximately 8:50 a.m., a crash occurred at the intersection of Middleford Road and Sussex Highway involving a privately contracted ambulance.

The ambulance was transporting one of the individuals from the earlier crash to another hospital. It was using emergency lights and sirens while going through the intersection.

A Chevy Malibu was traveling northbound on Sussex Highway with a green light when the ambulance struck it. The driver of the Malibu was taken to a nearby hospital with minor injuries.

The individual being transported by the ambulance was returned to a nearby hospital. The operator of the ambulance was cited for inattentive driving.
