Annapolis Man Facing 64 Felony Charges After Explosives and Weapons Found During Search
State of MD - An Annapolis man is facing numerous felony charges after a months-long investigation into illegal nighttime hunting led to the discovery of destructive devices. The investigation was initially prompted by an incident in which a local residence was struck by gunfire.
On April 14, 2026, a search-and-seizure warrant was executed by the Maryland Natural Resources Police Tactical Response Team. The search took place at a residence located in the 1200 block of Blackwalnut Lane in Annapolis, Maryland.
During the operation, numerous suspected explosive devices and related materials were discovered inside the home.
Several agencies responded to assist with the scene, including the Anne Arundel County Fire Department Office of the Fire Marshal, the FBI, the ATF, and the Annapolis Fire Department.
The suspected destructive devices were seized by county fire officials.
Additionally, weapons, optics, suppressors, and ammunition were seized by the Natural Resources Police. These items are suspected to have been used in the illegal harvest of several deer found in surrounding areas during February and March.
Lee Scott Wygal Ralston, 37, of Annapolis, Maryland, was charged by Anne Arundel County Fire Department investigators. The charges include 32 felony counts of manufacturing a destructive device and 32 felony counts of possession of a destructive device.
Additional criminal and natural resources charges remain pending as the investigation continues.
Assistance and collaboration from local, state, and federal partners were acknowledged by the Natural Resources Police. The investigation is currently ongoing.
