Salisbury, MD - A brush fire broke out Monday afternoon in Salisbury, quickly spreading to two small sheds on neighboring properties before firefighters brought it under control.

The fire was reported around 12:03 p.m. on the 800 block of Cornish Street in Salisbury. It was spotted by a passerby who noticed the flames in a brushy area before the fire could grow further.

The Salisbury Fire Department responded with 10 firefighters and had the fire under control in just eight minutes. The fast response kept the damage from spreading beyond the immediate area.

The fire burned through an area of brush roughly 45 feet by 15 feet. It then extended to two small sheds located on adjacent properties.

Damage from the fire is estimated at $1,000 to the structures and $500 to their contents. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Deputy State Fire Marshals are now looking into what started the blaze. The origin of the fire has been identified as the brush area where it first began.
