Cambridge, MD - On February 23, 2026, at approximately 2:28 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers responded to a physical disturbance in progress. The incident occurred in the 400 block of Skinners Court.

Upon arrival, officers located a victim displaying visible signs of injury and distress. The victim reported an assault by 33-year-old Floyd Kelly Daniels Jr. of Cambridge, Maryland.

Preliminary investigation determined that the victim and Daniels were initially involved in an argument. During the dispute, Daniels struck the victim. He also punched and broke a mirror, which resulted in an injury to his own hand.

The victim retreated to a bedroom and locked the door. While the victim attempted to escape through a window, Daniels broke down the bedroom door and pulled the victim back inside.

The victim reported that hair was pulled out during this struggle. Daniels subsequently struck the victim in the nose.

Daniels then exited the front of the residence. The victim attempted to secure the home and lock him out. However, Daniels re-entered the property by climbing through a window.

The victim escaped through a different window and fled to a neighboring property to seek assistance. Daniels pursued the victim to the second location.

The victim attempted to use a metal pole for self-defense. Daniels grabbed the victim by the neck and strangled them until they lost consciousness.

A witness at the scene indicated to officers that Daniels had fled the area on foot.

Officers also discovered that Daniels had multiple active arrest warrants. Police tracked his flight path through the snow. The tracks led to an apartment in the 1200 block of Chestnut Place.

Officers converged on the location and found Daniels inside. He was placed under arrest and transported to the police department for processing.

Daniels was charged with first-degree assault, second-degree assault, false imprisonment, home invasion, first-degree burglary, and theft between $100 and $1,500.

He appeared before a Court Commissioner for an initial hearing. Daniels was then transferred to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections, where he is being held without bond.
