Cambridge Woman Charged with Attempted Murder After Early Morning Stabbing on Douglas Street
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge woman is facing serious charges after a man was found stabbed multiple times in the middle of a street in the early morning hours of Wednesday, May 7, 2026.
At approximately 3:37 a.m., Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the 600 block of Douglas Street after receiving a report of a possible stabbing. When officers arrived, they found a 47-year-old man lying in the roadway with a significant amount of blood around him.
Officers acted quickly to help the victim. They applied a tourniquet to his arm where he had been stabbed and used a trauma kit with bandages and gauze to treat three additional stab wounds. Officers continued providing aid until Dorchester County EMS arrived on the scene.
The victim was transported to the University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge.
He was then flown by Maryland State Police Aviation to the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore. He is currently listed in stable condition.
While at the scene, officers followed a blood trail from the victim that led them to the 700 block of Douglas Street. There, they found a bloody knife in the roadway along with a large amount of blood.
CPD Detectives responded to assist with the investigation. By reviewing nearby camera footage, officers and detectives were able to identify the residence where the incident took place.
When they responded to that location, investigators identified the suspect as Iy'Onaalee Dimond Best, 22, of Cambridge. Best was taken into custody and transported to CPD headquarters for further questioning. According to investigators, she admitted to detectives to stabbing the victim.
Detectives later obtained a search and seizure warrant for the residence and recovered additional evidence connected to the incident.
Best was charged with Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, 1st Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, and Dangerous Weapon with Intent to Injure. She was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections and is being held on No Bond.
