Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge woman is facing serious criminal charges after police say she grabbed a victim by the throat and strangled them during a physical altercation earlier this month.

Cambridge Police Department officers responded to the 2500 block of Boeing Way on May 24, 2026, at approximately 8:30 a.m. after a report of a physical disturbance. When officers arrived, they made contact with the people involved.

The victim told officers that Jillian Kathleen Twyman, 35, of Cambridge, Maryland, grabbed them by the arm and then grabbed them by the throat and strangled them. Officers observed visible signs of injury on the victim at the scene.

Twyman was placed under arrest and transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. She was later turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on no bond.

She now faces three charges: first degree assault, second degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

First degree assault in Maryland is one of the most serious violent offenses and can involve strangulation. Strangulation is treated with particular severity in the law because it carries a significant risk of serious injury or death, even when visible injuries appear minor.
