National News - A product sold across the country on Amazon is now under a federal recall, and if you have children in your home, this is something you need to know about.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced on May 7, 2026, that EEMB USA is recalling its battery pouches due to a serious safety hazard. The packaging on these pouches does not meet the child resistant requirements set by federal law. That means a young child could easily open the pouch and get to the coin batteries inside.

Coin batteries are extremely dangerous for children. If a child swallows one, it can become lodged in the throat or digestive tract and cause severe internal chemical burns. In some cases, swallowing a coin battery can be fatal.

The recall was issued because the product violates the Federal Statute for Child Resistant Packaging of Coin Batteries. This is not a minor issue. Federal safety standards exist for this exact reason, and products that do not meet those standards pose a real danger to families.

If you have purchased these battery pouches, the CPSC is urging you to stop using them immediately. Keep them completely out of the reach of children until you have taken the next step to address the recall.

You can also find full recall details by visiting the CPSC website at cpsc.gov. If you want to report a dangerous product or a product related injury, go to SaferProducts.gov or call the CPSC hotline at 800-638-2772.

This recall is a good reminder for all families to check the products in your home, especially anything that contains small batteries. Coin batteries and button cell batteries may look harmless, but they can be deadly if a young child gets hold of one.

Always make sure battery compartments are secure and that any battery packaging is properly sealed and out of reach.
