State of DE - Delaware State Police are investigating an officer-involved shooting that left a 37-year-old man dead following a domestic incident Monday night in Magnolia, Delaware.

The shooting happened around 9:15 p.m. on June 29, 2026, in the 100 block of East Cherry Drive. Troopers were called to the scene after reports of a domestic disturbance.

Before they even arrived, officers learned the situation was already dangerous. Kristopher Glanden, of Frederica, Delaware, was reportedly suicidal, armed with a handgun, and trying to force his way into a home where his ex-partner and other family members were sheltering inside.

When troopers found Glanden in the front yard, they gave him repeated commands to comply. He refused. During the confrontation, Glanden pointed the handgun directly at the troopers.

Two officers fired their service weapons, striking Glanden. They immediately began providing first aid while waiting for EMS to arrive. Despite those efforts, Glanden died at the scene.

A loaded 9mm handgun was recovered from the scene.

As is standard procedure for officer-involved shootings, the DSP Homicide Unit took over the investigation. The two troopers involved were not injured. Both have been placed on administrative leave while a use-of-force review is conducted alongside the Delaware Department of Justice's Division of Civil Rights and Public Trust.

The investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information is asked to contact Sergeant K. Gause at (302) 741-2703. Tips can also be submitted through a private Facebook message to the Delaware State Police or by contacting Delaware Crime Stoppers at (800) 847-3333.
