Delaware State Police Investigate Death of 10-Year-Old Girl in Smyrna

State of DE - Delaware State Police are investigating the death of a 10-year-old girl found in her bedroom at a Smyrna home in the early morning hours of May 28, 2026.

Troopers responded to a residence on Oakwynn Circle at around 2:00 a.m. after the child was found deceased. The circumstances surrounding her death have not been released.

Once on scene, responding troopers called in the Delaware State Police Homicide Unit. That unit has since taken over the investigation.

The child's body was turned over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science. Investigators there will work to determine the cause and manner of death.

Delaware State Police have not released the child's name or any additional details at this time. The investigation is active and ongoing.
