Delaware State Police Welcome 18 New Officers
State of DE - Delaware has 18 new law enforcement officers ready to serve their communities. The Delaware State Police held a graduation ceremony on August 20, 2026, at Dover Middle School to mark the successful completion of the Delaware State Police Training Academy.
Colonel William D. Crotty, Superintendent of the Delaware State Police, announced the graduation of the 106th Delaware State Police Recruit Class and the 102nd Municipal Police Recruit Class. The class included 9 Delaware State Troopers and 9 Municipal Police Officers.
The municipal officers represent several agencies from around the state. They come from the Delaware Natural Resources Police, the Georgetown Police Department, the Laurel Police Department, the Middletown Police Department, the New Castle City Police Department, and the University of Delaware Police Department.
Trooper Wyatt Skinner was chosen by his classmates to speak to the class and guests. The program also included remarks from State Prosecutor Dan Logan of the Delaware Department of Justice and Secretary Joshua A. Bushweller of the Department of Safety and Homeland Security, along with Colonel Crotty.
Several graduates were recognized with awards during the ceremony. Trooper Kimani Carrington and Patrolman Gregory Catts of the Laurel Police Department both received the Delaware State Police Academy Physical Fitness Award.
Trooper Nicholas Verderame earned the Outstanding Proficiency in Police Firearms Award. Officer Christian D'Agostino of the University of Delaware Police Department received the Delaware State Police Academy Core Value Award.
Patrolman Gregory Catts also received the Secretary of Safety and Homeland Security Award. Trooper Cameron Smith earned the Attorney General's Award for Legal Excellence.
Officer James Young of the University of Delaware Police Department received the Delaware Association of Chiefs of Police Award. Trooper Wyatt Skinner was given the Governor's Outstanding Recruit Trooper Award.
The 106th Delaware State Police Recruit Class includes Trooper Leah Brasure, Trooper Kimani Carrington, Trooper Antoine Davis, Trooper Cody Garrison, and Trooper Dylan Nibblett. It also includes Trooper Wyatt Skinner, Trooper Cameron Smith, Trooper Nicholas Verderame, and Trooper Adam Warrington.
The 102nd Municipal Police Recruit Class includes Officer Evan Strickland of the Delaware Natural Resources Police, Patrolman John Briddell of the Georgetown Police Department, and Patrolman Gregory Catts of the Laurel Police Department. It also includes Officer James Cash and Officer Nicholas Misso of the Middletown Police Department, Officer Joseph Nicotra and Officer Bryan Powell of the New Castle City Police Department, and Officer Christian D'Agostino and Officer James Young of the University of Delaware Police Department.
The new troopers and officers now begin their careers, ready to serve communities across Delaware.
