Delaware Woman Arrested in $24,000 Retail Theft and Fraud Investigation

State of DE - The Delaware State Police arrested 30-year-old Nyejierra Drummond of Wilmington on multiple felony charges. Her arrest follows a multi-month investigation into organized shoplifting and an attempted fraudulent bank transaction.

Between September and December 2025, troopers investigated several shoplifting incidents. These occurred at retail stores in the Christiana Mall and Fashion Center in Newark.

Investigators determined Drummond worked with various accomplices. Together, they stole large quantities of clothing and fragrances. The total value of the stolen merchandise exceeded $24,800.

On March 17, 2026, Drummond attempted to cash a fraudulent check for more than $4,000. This took place at a bank in Wilmington. Bank employees noticed the suspicious transaction and contacted the account holder. The account holder confirmed the check was fraudulent.

Through continuous investigative efforts, troopers identified Drummond as the primary suspect. She was located and arrested in Wilmington on April 9, 2026. Investigators are still working to identify her partners.

Drummond was transported to Troop 6 and arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 11. She was committed to the Delores J. Baylor Women's Correctional Institution on a $25,000 cash bond and a $1,000 unsecured bond.

She faces numerous charges for these incidents. The felony charges include attempting to commit theft of $1,500 or greater from a victim 62 years of age or older, second-degree forgery, four counts of organized retail crime over $1,500, shoplifting over $1,500, and five counts of second-degree conspiracy. She was also charged with misdemeanor shoplifting under $1,500.
