Denton Man Arrested for Violating Probation in Talbot County
Talbot County, MD - Talbot County Sheriff's Office deputies arrested John Paul Yarbrough, 55, of Denton, on July 14, 2026. Yarbrough was taken into custody on a warrant tied to a probation violation. The original case involved a charge of first-degree assault.
The District Court for Talbot County issued the arrest warrant on July 10, 2026. Court records show the warrant charged Yarbrough with violating the terms of his probation. That probation stemmed from his earlier first-degree assault case.
After his arrest, deputies transported Yarbrough to the Talbot County Central Booking facility for processing. He then had an initial appearance before a District Court Commissioner. This step is standard procedure for anyone taken into custody on a warrant.
Following the appearance, Yarbrough was held pending further action by the courts. His case will continue to move through the Talbot County court system.
Probation violations happen when someone fails to follow the conditions set by a judge after a conviction. These conditions can include things like check-ins, staying out of trouble, or following other court-ordered rules. When someone breaks those terms, courts can issue a new warrant for their arrest.
First-degree assault is a serious charge in Maryland. It generally involves causing serious physical harm to another person or using a weapon during an assault. Because of the severity of the original charge, probation terms in these cases tend to carry close court supervision.
