Wicomico County, MD - On October 14, 2026, at approximately 1:29 a.m., the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office pulled over a Nissan Altima at the intersection of Beaglin Park Drive and Outten Road in Salisbury, MD. The deputy stopped the car after seeing a traffic violation.

During the stop, the deputy saw signs that led them to believe there may be criminal activity. A K-9 unit was called to the scene.

The K-9 walked around the outside of the car to check for the smell of drugs. This is known as a free air sniff, and it is done without going inside the vehicle.

The K-9 alerted to the car. That alert gave deputies reason to search both the car and the driver.

During the search, deputies found suspected cocaine. The sheriff's office says the amount points to distribution, which means it is believed to have been meant for sale.

Deputies also found a digital scale. The sheriff's office says the scale had cocaine residue on it.
Two cell phones and $205.30 in cash were also seized.

The driver was identified as Dashawn Malik Bunting. Bunting was placed under arrest at the scene.

Deputies took Bunting to the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office for processing. Bunting was then taken to the Wicomico County Detention Center.

The sheriff's office says Bunting is facing multiple charges related to controlled dangerous substances, also known as CDS.

Bunting was also given a traffic citation and warnings for the stop.

The sheriff's office did not release Bunting's age or where Bunting lives. It also did not release how much suspected cocaine was found.
