Dorchester County, MD - On December 11, 2025, investigators served a search warrant at a home in Cambridge, Maryland. What they found inside helped build a drug case that has now ended with a 40-year prison sentence.

Jeroham Diaz De Jesus was sentenced to 40 years in the Maryland Division of Corrections, with all but 20 years suspended.

Diaz De Jesus pleaded guilty to three charges. They were Manufacturing a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Cocaine), Possession of a Large Amount of a Controlled Dangerous Substance (Fentanyl Mixture), and Firearm Drug Trafficking.

Judge William H. Jones of the Circuit Court for Dorchester County handed down the sentence. It came in just under what prosecutors asked for and well above the 5 to 8 years called for by the Maryland Sentencing Guidelines.

The case started in mid-2024. Investigators got information about a group that was bringing large amounts of cocaine into Dorchester County through the United States Postal Service.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the Dorchester County Narcotics Task Force led the investigation with help from other law enforcement partners.

Officers kept a close watch, made several controlled drug buys and talked with people tied to the case. They found that Diaz De Jesus was selling cocaine and keeping cocaine and fentanyl at a home in Cambridge, Maryland.

When the search warrant was served, officers found cocaine, heroin and fentanyl. They also found guns, ammunition, a gun suppressor, body armor, cash and equipment used to make drugs.

On a different day, investigators took a backpack holding about 3.85 kilograms of what they first thought was cocaine. It was packed in three and a half bricks.

One of those bricks was sent to a federal lab for testing. The results showed it was actually a 1,005-gram fentanyl mixture.

The court ordered the seized items to be forfeited. That included nearly a dozen guns, a suppressor, body armor, a 20-ton manual press used to make drugs and $52,630 in cash.

Judge Jones gave Diaz De Jesus 20 years with all but 5 suspended on each drug charge, served back to back. He added 15 years with all but 10 suspended on the gun charge, and the first 10 years of the full sentence must be served with no chance of parole.

"This investigation demonstrates the significant threat posed by organized drug trafficking to our community and the importance of sustained cooperation between local, state, and federal law enforcement," said Dorchester County State's Attorney Amanda R. Leonard. "This case involved the trafficking of substantial quantities of cocaine and fentanyl, including more than a kilogram of a fentanyl mixture, as well as the possession of numerous firearms in connection with drug trafficking."

Leonard also thanked the people who worked the case. "I commend the investigators who worked on this case for their persistence and commitment to holding those responsible accountable. I also thank the Court for the sentence imposed, as it sends a message that this county will not tolerate drug trafficking."

The Maryland Criminal Intelligence Network (MCIN) helped support the operation. MCIN gets grant money and support from the Governor's Office of Crime Prevention and Policy (GOCPP).
