Driver Charged After DUI Crash Leaves Five Injured
Seaford, DE - On August 15, 2026, at approximately 12:12 a.m., Seaford Police Department responded to the intersection of Norman Eskridge Highway and Sussex Highway for a serious crash.
A Seaford PD officer was stopped at a red light at that intersection while on routine patrol. The officer saw a white Nissan Versa in the left turn lane of northbound Sussex Highway go through the red light.
A gray Buick Envision traveling southbound on Sussex Highway then struck the turning Nissan. The driver of the Nissan and two passengers in the Buick were not wearing seatbelts.
The driver of the Nissan was taken to a nearby hospital with critical injuries. One of the unbelted Buick passengers was also taken to the hospital with critical injuries.
The three other passengers in the Buick were taken to the hospital with non-critical injuries. The driver of the Nissan was identified as Ga'aiya Long.
Officers searched Long's vehicle and found multiple containers of alcohol. Officers also noted other signs of alcohol use.
A warrant has been issued for Long. The charges include four counts of Vehicular Assault 1st degree, a felony, along with Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol, a misdemeanor.
Long also faces a violation for failing to remain stopped at a red light, along with other traffic offenses.
