Drunk Driver Bites Deputy After Assaulting His Own Mother, Talbot County Sheriff's Office Says
Talbot County, MD - A routine traffic stop on the Eastern Shore took a troubling turn last week, ending with a Trappe man in custody after a chaotic series of events that left a deputy injured.
On April 11, 2026, Talbot County Sheriff's Office deputies pulled over a vehicle on Ocean Gateway near Dutchman's Lane for moving violations. The driver, 20-year-old Angel Izquierdo Parada of Trappe, was found to be driving while intoxicated and received traffic citations on the scene.
Deputies made the decision to transport Izquierdo Parada to his residence rather than take him into custody at that point. The intention was to release him into his mother's care.
That plan quickly fell apart.
Upon arrival, Izquierdo Parada assaulted his mother in front of the responding deputies. He was immediately taken back into custody for the assault.
The arrest did not go smoothly. Izquierdo Parada actively fought against deputies and bit one of them on the hand during the struggle. The deputy suffered a minor injury as a result.
Izquierdo Parada was then transported to the Talbot County Central Booking facility, where he was processed and appeared before a District Court Commissioner. He was held pending further action by the courts.
This incident serves as a reminder that what begins as a traffic stop can escalate in ways no one anticipates. Deputies made a reasonable effort to return Izquierdo Parada safely to his family, and he responded with violence toward both his mother and law enforcement.
