Eastern Shore Academy Graduates 20 New Officers
Wicomico County, MD - Twenty new law enforcement officers are ready to serve the Eastern Shore. They graduated from the 96th entrance-level class of the Eastern Shore Criminal Justice Academy (ESCJA), which is run by Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury.
The new officers come from six counties. That includes Wicomico, Worcester, Dorchester, Talbot, Caroline and Queen Anne's.
Graduation exercises were held at the Roland E. Powell Convention Center in Ocean City. Matthew A. Maciarello, associate judge for the Wicomico County Circuit Court, gave the commencement address.
John C. Moses, director of criminal justice at Wor-Wic, presided over the ceremony. He was joined by Donald Rollyson Jr., associate director of the ESCJA, and Rob Dell'Erba, ESCJA coordinator. Agency representatives handed out awards of certification and excellence.
Jacob Chase of the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office served as the class speaker.
Several new officers will be patrolling closer to home here on the Lower Shore. From the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, that includes Chase, along with Zane Agha, Karilyn Dorsey and Marissa Landon. Nicholas Greene joins the Salisbury University Police Department, and Zachary Elzey joins the Salisbury Police Department.
The Worcester County Sheriff's Office welcomes Franklin Baker III. The Ocean City Police Department has four new officers: Caleb Fretwell, Noah Shomette, Benjamin Spencer and Noah Townsend.
Graduates are also headed to police departments across the Upper Shore. Davonte Holbrook and Michael Thornton will serve with the Cambridge Police Department. Zachary Darling and Logan Dukes join the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office.
Chase Fletcher and Tucker Lytle will patrol for the Easton Police Department. Noah Michael White joins the Talbot County Sheriff's Office. Martin Schultz will serve with the Caroline County Sheriff's Department, and Thomas Endal joins the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office.
The ESCJA has trained law enforcement officers for the Eastern Shore for decades. The academy is based at Wor-Wic Community College, located at the corner of Route 50 and Walston Switch Road in Salisbury.
Congratulations to all 20 graduates on completing this milestone. Our community is safer with dedicated officers like these on patrol.
