Easton, MD - An Easton traffic stop turned into an arrest last weekend after a driver gave police a fake name and was caught with documents that told a different story.

On May 4, 2026, officers with the Easton Police Department pulled over a black Nissan Rogue on Easton Parkway, between Peachblossom Road and Port Street. Stationary radar had clocked the vehicle doing 67 mph in a posted 50 mph zone.

When officers made contact with the driver, he told them his name was Jose Rodriguez. He could not produce a valid driver's license.

A records check came back with no match for that name or any related identification. That prompted officers to dig deeper.

During the investigation, officers found documents in the driver's possession that carried a different name. Faced with that, the driver admitted who he actually was.

He identified himself as Jesus Alvarez-Rubio, 24, of Cambridge, Maryland.

A K9 unit from the Talbot County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene and scanned the vehicle. The dog gave a positive alert.

Officers then searched the Nissan Rogue. They found more identifying documents inside but no drugs or other contraband.

Alvarez-Rubio was placed under arrest at the scene. He was charged with Obstructing and Hindering and with providing a False Statement to a Police Officer.
