Easton Man Arrested for Threat of Mass Violence After Hammond Street Assault Investigation
Easton, MD - An Easton man is behind bars after threatening to "shoot up" a home and assaulting someone at the same residence, according to the Easton Police Department.
On April 16, 2026, officers from the Easton Police Department, with the help of the U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force (CARFTF), arrested 27-year-old Juwan O. Holmes of Easton, Maryland. The arrest was made on a warrant charging Holmes with Threat of Mass Violence, 2nd Degree Assault, and Malicious Destruction of Property valued at less than $1,000.
Holmes was also served with a separate arrest warrant out of Wicomico County. That warrant carries charges of 1st and 2nd Degree Assault, Reckless Endangerment, Disorderly Conduct, and Affray. Following his arrest, Holmes was released into the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center.
The investigation began nearly two weeks earlier. On April 4, 2026, Easton Police officers responded to the area of Hammond Street after receiving a report of an assault. When officers arrived, they observed blood and damage to a residence, consistent with an assault having taken place.
After investigating the scene, officers determined that Holmes had assaulted someone at that location. The case continued to develop in the days that followed.
On April 8, 2026, officers met with a complainant who told them Holmes had threatened to shoot up the house on Hammond Street. That threat prompted detectives to open a formal investigation and reach out to the U.S. Marshals CARFTF for assistance in locating Holmes.
The U.S. Marshals Capital Regional Fugitive Task Force is a multi-agency unit that specializes in tracking down wanted individuals. Their involvement in this case highlights how seriously law enforcement took the threat made against the Hammond Street residence.
It took just over a week from the time the threat was reported for Holmes to be taken into custody. The coordinated effort between local police and federal law enforcement resulted in his arrest on April 16th.
Residents near Hammond Street had reason for concern during the days Holmes remained at large. A threat of mass violence is not taken lightly by law enforcement, and the quick response from multiple agencies reflects that.
Holmes now faces charges in both Talbot and Wicomico counties. The cases will move through the court system in the weeks and months ahead.
