Easton Man Arrested on Theft Warrant Connected to Giant Food Store Incident
Easton, MD - An Easton man is facing a theft charge after officers with the Easton Police Department served an active arrest warrant on him last month.
On April 29, 2026, officers located and arrested William H. Fleetwood, 37, of Easton, Maryland. He was taken into custody without incident.
Fleetwood was charged with one count of Theft $100 to $1,500.
According to charging documents, the case goes back to January 4, 2026. That day, officers responded to the Giant Food store at 8223 Elliott Road in Easton in connection with a reported theft.
Officers investigated the incident and identified Fleetwood as the person who had stolen merchandise from the store. A warrant was later obtained through the Talbot County District Court.
It took a few months, but that warrant was served when officers caught up with Fleetwood at the end of April. The arrest went smoothly, and no further issues were reported at the time of his detention.
After being processed, Fleetwood was released to the custody of the Talbot County Detention Center. Fleetwood appeared before the District Court Commissioners, where he was released on an unsecured personal bond of $500.00.
It should be noted that Fleetwood has four separate cases that are open for Theft and one open case for assault, all of which are from 2026.
Theft charges in Maryland in the $100 to $1,500 range are treated as misdemeanor offenses and can carry potential jail time and fines if a person is convicted. The outcome of the case will depend on how it moves through the court system.
The Easton Police Department handled both the original response to the store and the eventual arrest following the court warrant. No additional suspects were named in connection with the incident at Giant.
