Easton Woman Arrested After Traffic Stop Turns Confrontational
Easton, MD - A routine traffic stop in Easton led to an arrest after a driver refused to comply with officers and became combative during the encounter.
On April 3, 2026, officers with the Easton Police Department stopped a vehicle for an equipment violation. What started as a standard stop quickly took a different turn.
The driver, identified as Elizabeth Miller, 28, of Easton, became irate during the stop and would not follow the lawful orders of the officers on the scene. Officers attempted to gain compliance with Miller but they were unsuccessful.
Miller was placed under arrest as a result of her refusal to cooperate. She was charged with two counts of Obstructing & Hindering, Failure to Obey a Lawful Order and Resisting/Interfering with Arrest.
Following her arrest, Miller was transported and later released to the Talbot County Detention Center. Following her initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner, Miller was released on her own personal recognizance.
It is worth noting that officers have the legal authority to issue lawful orders during a traffic stop, and drivers are required by law to comply. Failing to do so can and in most situations result in additional criminal charges beyond whatever led to the initial stop in the first place.
In this case, the initial equipment violation was minor. The charges that followed were not.
