Fatal Bicycle Crash Claims Life of Unidentified Man in Laurel

Laurel, DE - A man is dead following a bicycle crash in Laurel, Delaware Sunday night, and Delaware State Police are working to piece together exactly what happened.

The crash occurred around 9:10 p.m. on April 19, 2026, on Shiloh Church Road near the Turkey Knob Road intersection. A man riding his bicycle westbound on Shiloh Church Road was struck by a Ford Explorer that was traveling in the same direction.

According to investigators, the right front of the Explorer made contact with the bicycle. The impact ejected the rider from his bike.

Emergency responders transported the bicyclist to a nearby hospital. He was later pronounced dead. His identity has not yet been released.

The driver of the Explorer, a 75-year-old man from Delmar, Delaware, was not hurt. No additional details about him have been released at this time.

Shiloh Church Road was shut down for approximately three hours while troopers investigated the scene and crash.

Delaware State Police Troop 7's Collision Reconstruction Unit has taken over the investigation. This unit specializes in serious and fatal crashes and works to determine the full sequence of events.

The investigation remains open and active. Authorities have not yet said whether any charges will be filed.
