Fire at Salisbury Senior Apartments Displaces Six People
Wicomico County, MD - On October 22, 2026, at approximately 12:39 AM, the Salisbury Fire Department responded to Pine Bluff Village, 1500 block of Riverside Drive, Salisbury, Maryland, for a fire inside the building. Pine Bluff Village is a three-story apartment building for seniors in Wicomico County.
Someone who lives in the building was the first to notice the fire. Smoke alarms were in place, and they went off.
The building also has a fire alarm and sprinkler system. That system turned on as well.
Fifteen firefighters came out for the call, which stayed at one alarm. Crews had the fire under control in about 20 minutes.
Investigators say the fire started in a living room. Their early finding is that it was an accident.
Six people had to leave their homes because of the fire. The complex management and the American Red Cross are helping them.
Damage to the building is estimated at $15,000. Damage to belongings inside is estimated at $5,000, for a total loss of about $20,000.
As the weather turns colder, many people start using space heaters and other heat sources at home. Fire safety groups advise keeping blankets, furniture, papers and anything else that can burn at least three feet away from them.
