Five Cambridge Women Charged After Late Night Street Fight on Greenwood Ave
Cambridge, MD - A late night disturbance on a Cambridge street ended with five young women facing criminal charges after officers responded to a large crowd fight in the area.
The incident happened at approximately 10:53 p.m. on Monday, May 4, 2026, in the 600 block of Greenwood Avenue. Cambridge Police Department officers were already in the area investigating a separate hit and run accident when they heard a commotion nearby.
Officers observed a large crowd that had gathered and noticed multiple people actively fighting each other. They stepped in to break up the altercation and took several individuals into custody.
All five of those arrested are 19 years old and from Cambridge. They were transported to the Cambridge Police Department for processing. Due to manpower issues at the time, each person was issued a Criminal Citation and released.
The following individuals were charged with Disorderly Conduct:
Tynasia Leighaire Wongus, Takaela Cottingham, Jamyla Nicole Nichols, Tychera La'Nae Wongus, and Miracle Heaven Fletcher.
The charges did not stop there. Officers also applied for additional charges through the Court Commissioner. Criminal Summons have been issued for each individual on charges of Second Degree Assault and Affray. Those summons are currently awaiting service.
Affray is a criminal charge in Maryland that applies when two or more people engage in a fight in a public place in a way that could frighten or disturb others nearby.
This incident serves as a reminder that public disturbances can result in serious criminal charges, even when arrests are not made at the scene. A Criminal Summons carries the same legal weight as a formal arrest and requires the accused to appear in court.
