FOP Lodge 10 Launches First-Ever Scholarship for Worcester County Students
Ocean City, MD - The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 10 has announced the launch of its first college scholarship fund for local high school graduates. The program will award two scholarships of $500 each to graduating seniors who plan to continue their education.
The scholarship is open to students planning to attend a university, college, community college, or trade school. Applicants must live in Worcester County, Maryland, and have a minimum weighted GPA of 3.0.
FOP Lodge 10 Treasurer Anthony Calabrese announced the program with a statement about why the lodge created it.
"I am pleased to announce that FOP Lodge 10 has created, for the first time ever, a scholarship program dedicated to supporting local students in their pursuit of continuing education," Calabrese said. "We established this scholarship program as a way to thank our community for its continued support while also helping the next generation achieve future success."
To apply, students must submit a completed scholarship application and a written essay. The essay must be between 500 and 1,500 words and should explain the student's chosen major or trade and how finishing school will benefit them after graduation.
The deadline to apply is July 1, 2026. All applications and essays must be submitted through the online scholarship portal at https://form.jotform.com/FOPLodge10/scholarshipapplication.
If more than two students apply, a scholarship committee will review all submissions and choose the two winners. If two or fewer applications come in, the lodge treasurer will review them to confirm eligibility before awarding the funds.
Each scholarship will be paid directly to the student, with payment made to their school on their behalf. The award is non-renewable, meaning it is a one-time payment per recipient.
Calabrese added that the lodge hopes to build on this effort going forward.
"Our scholarship committee, membership, and executive board look forward to growing this program and expanding opportunities for students in the years ahead," he said.
