FOP Lodge 50 Endorses Seven Candidates for County Commissioner

Worcester County, MD - The Fraternal Order of Police Worcester County Lodge 50 has announced its official endorsements for the 2026 Worcester County Commissioner election.

The organization voted to endorse one candidate in each of the seven commissioner districts.

Those candidates are:

• Laura Morrison in District 1
• Diana Purnell in District 2
• Eric Fiori in District 3
• Steve Green in District 4
• Joe Schanno in District 5
• Lou Taylor in District 6
• Joe Mitrecic in District 7.

FOP Lodge 50 said the endorsed candidates have shown a commitment to public safety, responsible county leadership, and support for the deputies who serve Worcester County residents every day.

The organization pointed to the demands placed on law enforcement in Worcester County as a reason these endorsements matter. Deputies in Worcester County are a full service law enforcement agency who respond to emergencies, patrol roadways, serve in schools, assist victims, and work to keep communities safe across a large and complex jurisdiction.

According to FOP Lodge 50, the endorsed candidates understand that public safety must stay a top priority for county government. The group believes these candidates recognize what it takes to give deputies the staffing, resources, training, equipment, and support they need to do their jobs safely and effectively.

The FOP also stressed that the role of County Commissioner carries real weight when it comes to law enforcement. Decisions made by commissioners directly affect the ability of the Worcester County Sheriff's Office to recruit and retain qualified deputies, as well as properly support the men and women on the job.

FOP Lodge 50 said it backs candidates who value law enforcement, listen to the concerns of working deputies, and are willing to pursue solutions that strengthen public safety for everyone in the county.
