Georgetown Crash Leaves One Dead, Two Injured
Georgetown, DE - A man from Lincoln, Delaware, has died after a three-vehicle crash in Georgetown Friday morning. The Delaware State Police are now investigating what caused the wreck.
The crash happened around 7:20 a.m. on Old Furnace Road, west of Rementer Road. A Chevrolet Silverado was heading eastbound when it crossed over the center line.
The Chevrolet sideswiped a westbound Toyota Sienna before continuing forward. It then crashed head-on into a Nissan Rogue that was traveling behind the Toyota.
The driver of the Chevrolet, a 52-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene. His name has not been released yet, as police wait to notify his family.
The Toyota's driver, a 50-year-old woman from Georgetown, Delaware, was taken to a local hospital. Her injuries are not considered life-threatening.
The Nissan's driver, a 33-year-old man from Seaford, Delaware, suffered serious injuries. He was flown to an area hospital by the Delaware State Police Aviation Section.
Old Furnace Road was shut down for about four hours while police investigated the scene. The road has since reopened to traffic.
The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is still working to determine what led to the crash. No charges have been announced at this time.
