Grasonville Family Escapes $500,000 House Fire

Queen Anne's County, MD - On April 10, 2026, at 12:57 a.m., a fire occurred at a single-family home, located on Captain Court in Grasonville, Queen Anne's County, Maryland.

A neighbor discovered the fire and alerted the four family members living in the residence. The family was able to safely escape the home, and no injuries were reported.

The fire originated within the interior of the attached garage of the one-story, wood-frame dwelling. It then extended into the main house, causing extensive damage throughout the property.

Fifty-nine firefighters, led by the Grasonville Volunteer Fire Department, responded to the two-alarm incident. The fire was brought under control in approximately one hour.

Smoke alarms were present and activated inside the dwelling. The total property loss is estimated at $500,000.

The four displaced family members are currently being assisted by the American Red Cross. The preliminary cause of the fire remains under investigation.
