State of DE - Delaware State Police have arrested a Hockessin woman in connection with a child abuse investigation at a Newark childcare facility. Neha Gour, 46, was taken into custody after turning herself in at Troop 6 on June 30,2026.

Investigators say the case began in late April 2026. The Delaware State Police Criminal Investigations Unit opened an inquiry into an allegation of abuse at the Delaware Technical Community College Stanton Childhood Development Center on Stanton-Christiana Road.

The investigation started after a mother took her son to receive medical treatment. She had noticed bruising on the boy's wrist and wanted him checked out.

Detectives reviewed the evidence gathered during the investigation. They determined that Gour, who worked as a teacher at the center, picked up the 3-year-old child by the neck and placed him in a chair. The child reportedly cried and grabbed at his neck in response.

Investigators also found that Gour forcefully grabbed the child by the wrist. She then led him to another area of the classroom, according to police.

Following the investigation, detectives obtained a warrant for Gour's arrest. She turned herself in nearly two months later and was charged with Child Abuse Third Degree, a felony.

Gour was arraigned by the Justice of the Peace Court. She was released on her own recognizance following the arraignment.

The Delaware Technical Community College Stanton Childhood Development Center is located at 400 Stanton-Christiana Road in Newark. It is unclear at this time whether Gour remains employed there.
