House Fire Displaces Family in Delmar, Causes $250K in Damage

Delmar, MD - A two-alarm house fire broke out Tuesday afternoon at a home in Delmar, Maryland, sending one person to the hospital and leaving a family without a place to stay.

The fire was reported at 1:49 p.m. on June 2, 2026 in the 300 block of East Pine Street. The home is a two-story, wood-frame single-family dwelling.

The smoke alarm and fire alarm both activated, which helped get firefighters on the scene quickly.

Forty firefighters from the Delmar Volunteer Fire Department and surrounding assisting agencies responded to the call. It took crews about 60 minutes to get the fire under control.

One adult was taken to TidalHealth for minor smoke inhalation. Three people were displaced by the fire.

The fire started at the rear of the home. The cause is still under investigation.

Damage estimates put the structure loss at $200,000 and contents at $50,000, for a total of $250,000. No arrests were made.
