State of MD - Maryland State Police are investigating the death of a state prison inmate at Roxbury Correctional Institution in Washington County, Maryland.

The inmate, Colin Wolf, 32, was found unresponsive in his cell at approximately 11:15 p.m. on Wednesday, May 20. Emergency medical personnel responded but were unable to save him. Wolf was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore. An autopsy will be performed to determine the official cause and manner of death.

Investigators believe Wolf's cellmate was inside the cell at the time of the incident. That cellmate has been identified as a suspect in the case. Police have not released his name, and no formal charges have been filed yet.

The investigation started with the Department of Public Safety and Correctional Services Internal Investigative Unit, also known as the DPSCS IIU. That unit contacted the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, which took over as the lead agency on the case.

State Police homicide investigators are continuing to work the case. They are receiving assistance from State Police crime scene technicians and DPSCS investigators.

Once the investigation is complete, it will be turned over to the Washington County Office of the State's Attorney. That office will review the findings and decide whether charges will be filed.
