Princess Anne, MD - A juvenile is facing adult charges after Princess Anne Police officers recovered a loaded ghost gun during a foot pursuit on Sunday.

The arrest happened on May 31, 2026, in the area of Beckford Avenue and Stewart Neck Road. Officers gave chase on foot and took the juvenile into custody.

During the incident, officers found a privately manufactured firearm on the individual. These weapons are commonly called "ghost guns" because they lack serial numbers and are difficult to trace.

The firearm was not only loaded but ready to fire. Officers found one round already in the chamber and eight more rounds in the magazine.

After consulting with the Somerset County State's Attorney's Office, prosecutors decided to charge and process the juvenile as an adult. That decision reflects the serious nature of the offense.

The defendant appeared before a District Court Commissioner following the arrest. The commissioner released the individual on personal recognizance, meaning no bail was required, pending future court proceedings.

The Princess Anne Police Department pushed back on the outcome in their release. The department said it remains committed to "removing illegal firearms from our streets and holding offenders accountable," but acknowledged the commissioner determined the case did not warrant continued detention.

Ghost guns have become a growing concern for law enforcement across the country. Because they are assembled from parts or made using 3D printers, they do not carry serial numbers, making them harder to track when used in crimes.
