Knife Found at Sussex Central Middle School, Teen Arrested
Sussex County, DE - On September 29, 2026, the School Resource Officer at Sussex Central Middle School, 26026 Patriots Way, Georgetown, DE, was told staff had found a knife in a student's backpack. Staff discovered the large kitchen knife while searching the bag.
The officer learned the student and another student had been in a dispute on social media. The disagreement carried over into an altercation at school.
Police say the student threatened to stab the other student during the argument. He later touched that student in a sexual manner. No one was injured.
The student was removed from the school and turned over to the custody of a parent or guardian.
On September 30, 2026, the 13-year-old turned himself in at Delaware State Police Troop 4. He was charged with Unlawful Sexual Contact 2nd Degree, Possession of a Weapon in a Safe Zone, and Carrying a Concealed Deadly Weapon.
All three are felonies. He was also charged with Terroristic Threatening.
He was arraigned in Family Court and released to a parent or guardian on a $1,700 unsecured bond.
