Laurel Pedestrian Dies in Saturday Night Crash

Sussex County, DE - On August 15, 2026, at approximately 9:20 p.m., Delaware State Police responded to Sussex Highway near Oasis Drive in Laurel, Delaware for a fatal pedestrian crash.

A Toyota Camry was traveling southbound in the right lane of Sussex Highway, approaching Oasis Drive. At the same time, a pedestrian was walking westbound in the right lane of southbound Sussex Highway.

The pedestrian was struck by the Toyota. He was taken to an area hospital, where he later died.

The pedestrian was a 41-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware. His name is being withheld until his family is notified.

The driver of the Toyota was a 21-year-old man from Laurel, Delaware. He was not injured in the crash. The roadway was closed for about three hours while police investigated and cleared the scene.
