Lyft Driver Carjacked at Gunpoint in Delaware

State of DE - Delaware State Police are investigating a carjacking that happened Saturday evening in Frederica, Delaware. The incident left a Lyft driver without his car and his phone, but thankfully he was not hurt.

On July 4, 2026 at approximately 6:45 PM, Troopers from the Delaware State Police responded to the first block of East Oak Street after getting a report of the carjacking. Investigators say the driver had picked up three passengers in Dover, Delaware and drove them to the first block of East Pine Street in Frederica, Delaware.

While riding in the back seat, one of the passengers pulled out a handgun. He ordered the driver to get out of the car. A second suspect then jumped into the driver's seat.

The three suspects sped off with the victim's car and his cell phone. All three had their hoods up and wore black masks, making it hard to identify them.
