Man Arrested After Assaulting Victim Inside Cambridge WaWa Bathroom
Cambridge, MD - A Cambridge man was arrested early Friday morning after allegedly assaulting someone inside a local WaWa convenience store.
According to the Cambridge Police Department, officers responded to the 900 block of Camelia Street around 2:30 a.m. on April 24, 2026. The call came in as an assault report connected to the nearby WaWa location.
When officers made contact with the victim, they were told that 22-year-old Corey Kinta Fells Jr., of Cambridge, Maryland, had approached them inside the store. Fells reportedly began asking the victim about car keys.
The situation quickly escalated from there. Fells allegedly followed the victim into the bathroom, where he grabbed them and pinned them against the wall. He then began searching the victim's body for the keys.
During the struggle, the victim's shirt was ripped. The victim was able to break free and flee the bathroom before running out of the store entirely.
Officers who responded to the scene observed visible signs of injury on the victim. That observation supported the victim's account of what had happened inside the store.
It did not take long for police to locate Fells in the area. He was taken into custody without further incident.
Fells was charged with Assault in the Second Degree. Despite the charge, he was later released on his own personal recognizance, meaning he was let go without having to post bail.
This incident is a reminder that crimes can happen at any time, even in busy public spaces in the early morning hours. WaWa locations are often open 24 hours and can see a mix of customers throughout the night.
The Cambridge Police Department continues to serve and protect the community around the clock. If you ever witness suspicious behavior or feel unsafe in a public place, do not hesitate to contact local law enforcement right away.
