Man Hiding in Bushes Caught After Exxon Theft
Cambridge, MD - Cambridge Police officers were called to the Exxon at 324 Sunburst Highway around 10:10 p.m. on June 23, 2026. The call came in as a theft in progress. Officers learned the suspect had already taken off on foot and fled the area. Police began searching the area right away. It didn't take long for them to find someone matching the description. He was hiding in the bushes near Roselynn Ave and Sunburst Highway in Cambridge, Maryland. When officers approached, the man gave them a false name. That didn't hold up for long. He was placed under arrest and later identified as 40-year-old Lidwin Jeovany Torres-Garcia of Cambridge, MD. While searching the area, officers found the stolen items from Exxon. They were sitting right in the bushes where Torres-Garcia had been hiding. That made the theft case pretty clear cut. A records check turned up even more trouble for Torres-Garcia. He had multiple active warrants out for his arrest. Those warrants came from both Talbot and Dorchester County courts. Torres-Garcia was taken to Cambridge Police Department for processing. Once there, officers discovered something else. Discarded CDS was found in the back of the patrol vehicle, and it belonged to him. After processing, Torres-Garcia was released on his personal recognizance. He's now facing a long list of charges connected to incident.
