State of DE - Delaware State Police have arrested a 62-year-old man after he allegedly pulled out a gun and pointed it at students on a school bus, all because a kid sprayed him with a water gun.

Charles McCombs, of Magnolia, Delaware, was taken into custody on June 11, 2026, and now faces serious felony charges.

The incident happened on June 9, 2026, earlier in the day while a school bus was traveling on Peachtree Run near Millchop Lane in Magnolia, Delaware.

A student on the bus squirted water from a water gun at a man riding a Can-Am Spyder motorcycle that was traveling alongside the bus.

That's when things escalated quickly. The motorcyclist yelled at the students, then pulled out a gun and pointed it directly at the school bus as it drove away.

The situation may have gone unreported, but a cell phone video changed everything. That evening, around 8:00 p.m., the School Resource Officer assigned to Polytech High School was notified by school administration after the video surfaced. It clearly showed the man pointing a gun at the students.

Detectives launched an investigation and were able to identify the suspect as McCombs through investigative means. A warrant was obtained for his arrest.

McCombs was taken into custody without incident on June 11 and transported to Troop 3. He was then arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on a $48,000 secured bond.

He faces the following felony charges of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony and 6 counts of Aggravated Menacing.

The six counts of aggravated menacing reflect the number of students who were on the bus at the time of the incident.
