Marion Station Man Dies in Route 13 Crash
Worcester County, MD - A Marion Station man is dead after a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon in Worcester County, Maryland. The Maryland State Police and the Pocomoke City Police Department are investigating the crash.
The man who passed away has been identified as David Loveland, Jr., 53. He was driving alone in a Jeep Grand Cherokee at the time of the crash.
The other vehicle involved was a Toyota Venza. Its driver, a 37-year-old woman, and a 34-year-old male passenger were both taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Troopers from the Maryland State Police Berlin Barrack responded shortly after 3 p.m. yesterday and began their investigation. The crash happened on southbound Route 13 at the intersection with Holland Road.
According to the preliminary investigation, Loveland's Jeep was traveling east on Holland Road and attempting to cross the intersection. For reasons that are still unknown, the Jeep was struck by the Toyota.
The Pocomoke City Police Department asked the Maryland State Police to provide crash investigators for the scene. That's a common step when local departments need extra resources for a serious crash.
Lanes on Route 13 were closed for more than three hours while investigators worked the scene. The Maryland Department of Transportation State Highway Administration assisted with the road closure.
