Maryland Man Charged in Delaware Child Sex Case
State of DE - A Maryland man was arrested on August 11, 2026, on federal charges connected to the sexual assault of a 12-year-old girl in Delaware.
Majdi Jones, 22, of Maryland, is charged with coercion and enticement of a minor. He is also charged with traveling to Delaware to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
According to court documents, Jones communicated with the victim over Snapchat. During those conversations, he exchanged nude photographs with her.
Court documents state that Jones and the victim also arranged to meet in person for sex. Through their messages, Jones learned that the victim was only 12 years old.
Jones lied about his own age during the conversations, according to the documents. Even after learning the victim's real age, he still planned to meet her.
The two arranged to meet at a park in Delaware in the early hours of the morning. Jones drove from Maryland into Delaware to carry out the plan.
He picked the victim up near her home and drove her to the park, court documents state. Once there, Jones engaged in sexual conduct with the victim.
That conduct is alleged to constitute rape in the fourth degree under Delaware law. Investigators later found a used condom in the back seat of the car where the assault took place.
Jones faces one count of coercion and enticement of a minor, a violation of federal law. He also faces one count of traveling with intent to engage in illicit sexual conduct.
If convicted, Jones faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison. The maximum possible penalty is life in prison.
Federal sentences are typically less than the maximum allowed under the law. A federal judge will determine the actual sentence based on the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and other factors.
U.S. Attorney Benjamin L. Wallace announced the charges against Jones. The case was investigated by the FBI Baltimore Field Office's Wilmington Resident Agency and the New Castle County Police Department.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Bryan C. Williamson and Claudia L. Pare are prosecuting the case.
