Wicomico County, MD - There is one question I keep getting asked over and over again..... Who am I voting for in the Wicomico County Sheriff's race? Will it be Sheriff Mike Lewis or Lana Foley?

This is a tough one for me to answer but I promised people, in public and on this page, that I would give an honest answer and not do it with hatred in my heart. I promised to think logically and not emotionally, so here it is.

I will never lie on this page for likes, clicks, or shares. I will never mislead the community that I have worked so hard to build. I believe you trust me, and I don't take that lightly.

It's no secret that Mike Lewis and I are not friends. We don't see eye to eye. He has been open in public about not liking me or Eastern Shore Undercover, and as you all know, I don't care for him either. Long story short, you won't see the two of us sitting down to dinner together anytime soon.

That said, I can't in good faith tell people to vote for Lana Foley knowing that she has never served as a law enforcement officer. Running for sheriff is not the same as running for county council, county executive, or the board of education.

The job of sheriff calls for real knowledge of law enforcement and real time experience in the field, much different then those positions I previously spoke of.

Lana Foley is a very kind lady. Let me be abundantly clear, she is about as nice of a person as you will ever meet.

But I disagree with most of her aspects and thoughts and those are things that keep us safe. I listened very closely at the candidate forum and even went back to the sheriff showdown at the primary election, and I have to say I feel that Mike Lewis is a much greater option to keep our community safe.

Additionally, in my opinion, anyone running for sheriff needs law enforcement experience. I can't put enough emphasis on that. That goes for Wicomico County and anywhere else in the country. You need time on the streets in uniform to properly hold a leadership position in law enforcement and to understand what the men and women in law enforcement go through daily.

I may not like Mike Lewis on a personal level. I may not think he is a good person because of how he treats people, or because of how he has talked about me but I do believe our community is safer with him as sheriff than with someone who has never worked in law enforcement.

Wicomico County is my home. I have raised my kids here for the past 20 years. Two of my three daughters live here now with their spouses and they call Wicomico County home.

So for me, this is bigger than a personal grudge or vendetta, it's about keeping my family safe.

I won't let my personal issues with Mike Lewis put my family's safety at risk to where we live in an unsafe community.

You've heard me talk about this many times. We have seen too many local leaders let personal feelings get in the way of doing what's right, and I won't go down that same road.

He doesn't like me, and I don't care for him. But we don't have to work together, we don't have to talk, and we don't have to see each other on a regular basis.

This isn't an endorsement, he certainly doesn't need or want my endorsement, this is just my opinion but I believe Mike Lewis is the better candidate for Sheriff of Wicomico County.
