Ocean City, MD - Ocean City is heading into summer with a bigger and better electric vehicle charging network. The Town of Ocean City has partnered with Maryland-based ezVOLTz to upgrade and expand EV charging stations at several key locations around town.

The new setup includes both DC fast chargers and Level 2 chargers. DC fast chargers can bring a vehicle from 10% to 80% battery in about 20 to 45 minutes. Level 2 chargers take a bit longer, with a full charge coming in around 4 to 8 hours.

New chargers are now in place at four locations across town. The Roland E. Powell Convention Center South Lot has two DC fast chargers and six Level 2 chargers. The Worcester Street Parking Area has two Level 2 chargers. The Ocean City 100th Street Library has four Level 2 chargers. Northside Park also has two Level 2 chargers.

Drivers can pay through the ezVOLTz EV Station Locator app, available on both the Apple App Store and Google Play. Level 2 chargers also have a QR code payment option on the screen. DC fast chargers have a credit card reader on the front of the unit along with a QR code on the screen.

City Manager Terry McGean spoke to why this matters for Ocean City. "Partnering with ezVOLTz to expand electric vehicle charging infrastructure is an important step forward for Ocean City," McGean said. "Upgrading our EV charging equipment through this partnership helps us meet the needs of a growing number of electric vehicle drivers while also attracting new visitors and supporting local businesses. These improvements are an investment in the future of Ocean City and the overall visitor experience."

ezVOLTz Chief Operating Officer Sean Powell also weighed in on the project. "As a Maryland-based company, we're proud to support Ocean City with a reliable and scalable EV charging solution," Powell said. "This project is built for the long term and is designed to grow with EV adoption while minimizing downtime and delivering a seamless experience for drivers."

The project also kept things local. ezVOLTz partnered with Ocean City based Royal Plus Electric to help with the installation, bringing in local expertise and keeping economic impact close to home.

Ocean City's new charging network runs on the ezVOLTz platform known as ezCONNECT. The platform gives the town real time monitoring and control over the chargers, helping keep them up and running with fast response when issues come up.
