Ocean Downs Casino Is Offering Free Meals to On-Duty Law Enforcement Officers Starting May 1
Berlin, MD - A local Berlin landmark is stepping up to show appreciation for the men and women who protect our community every day.
Ocean Downs Casino and Racetrack has announced a new program that will provide free meals to on-duty law enforcement officers. The program kicks off on May 1, 2026, and is available every single day of the week.
Any uniformed officer who is actively on duty is welcome to stop in and enjoy a complimentary meal. The casino is open for this program from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 a.m. daily, which means officers working a variety of shifts can take advantage of it.
Ocean Downs General Manager Bobbi Jones spoke directly to why this matters to them as a business. "We are honored to support the officers who work tirelessly to keep our community safe," Jones said. "This initiative is a meaningful way for us to acknowledge their service and demonstrate our gratitude."
The gesture is more than just a free meal. It is about giving officers a place to feel welcomed during long and often demanding shifts. Ocean Downs wants to create a space where law enforcement knows they are appreciated.
Ocean Downs Casino and Racetrack is located at 10218 Racetrack Rd. in Berlin, Maryland, just a short drive from Ocean City. The facility has been a part of the Eastern Shore community since the harness racetrack first opened back in 1949. The casino itself has been open since 2011 and is owned and operated by Churchill Downs Inc.
The casino features more than 850 slot machines and 18 live table games. It also has four dining options on site, including Poseidon's pub-style restaurant, two grab-and-go spots, and Pacers, which is open during the racing season. That gives officers plenty of choices when they come in for their meal.
This kind of community effort is something worth recognizing. Businesses that go out of their way to support local law enforcement help build stronger bonds between officers and the people they serve every day.
If you are an on-duty officer in uniform, you are encouraged to stop by during operating hours.
Ocean Downs reminds guests that you must be 21 or older to enter the casino. If you or someone you know needs help with gambling, visit mdgamblinghelp.org or call 1-800-GAMBLER.
