Ocean Pines, MD - Ocean Pines Police Chief Tim Robinson is stepping down this summer after nearly three years leading the department. General Manager John Viola announced the retirement on behalf of the Ocean Pines Association, with Robinson's last day set for June 12, 2026.

Viola acknowledged the news with a brief statement. "I have accepted the notice from the Chief on his retirement. We thank him for his 3 years of service to Ocean Pines and wish him well."

Robinson took the helm of the Ocean Pines Police Department on August 1, 2023. He brought with him a career in law enforcement that stretched back three decades.

His career started with two summers as a Seasonal Police Officer with the Rehoboth Beach Police Department in Delaware. From there, he moved on to the Delmar Police Department, which serves both Maryland and Delaware.

In 1997, Robinson joined the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office, where he would spend the bulk of his career. Over the years, he worked across many areas of the department, including patrol, administration, school safety, judicial protection, and investigations.

He retired from the Wicomico County Sheriff's Office at the rank of Captain before transitioning into his role in Ocean Pines.

Robinson's retirement comes as the Ocean Pines community continues to grow. His departure will leave the department with a leadership change to navigate in the months ahead.

No information has been released yet regarding a search for his replacement.
