National News - An update to a story we first reported on July 2, 2026, has a new and serious turn. Tou Lue Vang, the man who was pardoned by the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission and former Vice Presidential candidate Tim Walz, has now been deported.

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) confirmed the news today. According to DHS, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) arrested and deported Vang, an illegal alien from Laos. He had been pardoned despite a prior conviction for repeatedly sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

Vang was convicted in 2006 of first-degree criminal sexual conduct. Court records show he assaulted the girl repeatedly between 2002 and 2004, starting when she was just 10 years old. He reportedly offered his victim $10 to keep quiet about the abuse.

When police interviewed Vang, he tried to justify what he did as "a cultural thing." He also claimed his victim was just as guilty as him and should be arrested too.

After his conviction, a Department of Justice Immigration Judge issued Vang a final order of removal on October 31, 2006. That order would eventually lead to today's deportation, but not before several twists along the way.

ICE first arrested and detained Vang on December 10, 2025. Then, on February 19, 2026, a judge in the District of Minnesota ordered his release from ICE custody. Just months later, on June 10, 2026, the Minnesota Clemency Review Commission voted to pardon him.

DHS Acting Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis did not hold back in her statement on the case. "ICE deported Tou Vang, an illegal alien convicted child rapist. This monster repeatedly sexually assaulted a 10-year-old girl," Bis said. "Tim Walz pardoned this sex criminal in an attempt to allow him to remain in our country. These are the criminal illegal aliens he and sanctuary politicians are protecting. We will always put the safety of the American people first."
